On 22 February members of the Rain factory staff had the opportunity to attend a community outreach programme arranged by Rain and the Railton Foundation. The morning started off with an Educational Talk by Igshaan Adams from the I.E.C. Igshaan presented a talk on Civic and Democracy Education, followed by a Questions and Answers Session. The afternoon session involved members of the Heavenly Promise Safe House in Bredasdorp. Lana O’Neill, the Manager of Heavenly Promise, Chrisna Prins, the Operations Manager of Heavenly Promise, and Carmenitte Johnson, a survivor of drug abuse all came through to Swellendam, to present an Educational and Motivational Talk for our staff. Lana spoke about what the Safe House in general, trauma and how to deal with trauma, and domestic violence and drug/ alcohol abuse. Chrisna shared her story with our staff, and her healing process at Heavenly Promise. Carmenitte shared her life story of drug abuse and also how to she ended up at Heavenly Promise.
