Our distinctive, creative handmade soaps are a signature of the Rain brand. Crafted from 100% natural ingredients, cured for up to six weeks, and passing through about eight pairs of skilled hands during their creation, these soaps underscore Rain’s commitment to high quality through labour-intensive, low-tech manufacturing.
We apply the same values when we source the skin-nourishing butters and oils, essential oil fragrances and plant-derived colourants which go into our deliciously creamy soaps.
The key ingredients are organic Fair Trade oils which are sustainably harvested from wild African trees and in one case, from a melon which grows only in the harsh Kalahari Desert.
Our soaps also contain a large percentage of olive oil from the southern-most olive farm in Africa, coconut oil, sunflower oil and palm oil.
We are sensitive to the controversies surrounding palm oil, particularly the uncontrolled spread of plantations in Malaysia which has decimated the habitats of many endangered species, the most emotive being the orang-utan. For this reason, we source palm oil only from a 100-year-old plantation which has strict environmental policies in place and whose owners are founder members of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil Production (RSPO) which promotes environmental responsibility within the industry.back to
